We have 10 days until Summer officially starts, which means that it’s time to get those swimming pools ready. Travelers Insurance has a few tips to help homeowners get those pools primed for the season.
Remove and Store the Cover
To start, you may need a couple of people to help you clean the debris from the pool cover and remove it from the pool. Then, thoroughly clean the cover then, once its completely dry, sprinkle talcum powder on it. This will help prevent mold and mildew. Finally, loosely fold and store it in a cool, dry area.
Inspect, Re-install and Reconnect all Pool Parts and Equipment
The most important thing to remember is to safety inspect your pool and its equipment. Call a professional to inspect all electrical components of your pools filter, pump and heater. Once you know that everything is working and grounded properly, you can go ahead and clean, lubricate and de-winterize any drains and accessories your pool has.
Prep the Pool and Water
Now that the pool is cleaned, it’s time to get your pool water tested and get the water chemistry levels adjusted. It’s important to know what the water requirements are so you may want to contact a local pool supply store to ask.
Prep the Area Around Your Pool
It’s crucial that you know that while your pool is meant to be a place of fun, there are certain risks that will always be present. Your job is to guard yourself and your guests from accidental slips and falls. This means that you want to post pool rules and safety signs as well as making sure you have cleared any potential hazards from the decking or walkways near the pool.
Also, you will want to be sure that your pool fencing is in good condition and works properly. Each state has its own laws and regulations about pool fencing and signage. Contact your local and state government agencies to ensure you remain in compliance with all requirements.
Taking the necessary precautions to prepare for the season ahead can help keep your pool clean and safe for you, your family and friends to enjoy all summer long.
Unfortunately for some of the more financially successful among us, we live in a very litigious society where you must use every vehicle legally allowed to protect your hard earned assets.
People have started to demand a deeper sense of protection from their financial advisors. A recent study by the consulting firm of Oliver Wyman has found that 41% said that they would stay with an advisor longer and about half said they would be more likely to recommend their advisor simply because they suggested a way to protect their growing net worth.
In the same study, 77% of those surveyed said they would like to receive advice about Property and Casualty Insurance.
For many financial advisors, this my feel like a problem but you don’t have to be an expert in property and casualty insurance to provide excellent advice. However, you will need to have relationships with quality insurance agents who you trust to help your clients.
The fear that most of these affluent clients face is that one accident or unexpected home repair that exceeds the coverage amount could cause them to pull from their investment account, ruining their compounding interest, to cover damages, pay legal fees or injury claims.
A good way to add value to your service to your clients is to develop relationships with insurance experts who can help your clients get all-inclusive P&C coverage at the lowest possible rates.
