Royall B. Ferguson III

Royall has 28 years in the insurance industry with experience in claims, underwriting, sales, risk management, and consulting. Royall received his BSBA in Finance and MBA in International Business, with a concentration in International Finance, from Old Dominion University. He is a results-oriented leader with extensive experience in risk management and loss control programs across diverse industries. He directs the development and integration of comprehensive risk management strategies and internal controls to minimize exposure, prevent losses, and maintain regulatory compliance.
Royall began his career with State Farm Insurance where he investigated, documented, and negotiated the settlement of Property & Casualty and Bodily Injury claims with claimants and attorneys. He is a policy language expert and knowledgeable about claims practices, the legal environment of claims, statement taking, and documentation.

After State Farm, he was an Exclusive Agent with Allstate Insurance and then became an agency owner with Ferguson Insurance as an independent broker. During this time, Royall gained extensive knowledge in field underwriting, claims practices, safety/ loss control issues, and insurance carrier auditing practices.
Royall also has 4 years of consulting experience with Northstar Integrative Consulting and York Risk Services. His responsibilities include assessing the risk environment, developing and implementing strategies to reduce exposure to loss, administration of insurance programs, safety and claims management for liability, property, workers compensation and medical malpractice insurance. Responsible for establishing loss control programs and safety measures, preparing forecasts and trend analysis, providing clear and concise documentation to support findings.
Based in Chesapeake, Virginia, Royall is also currently an independent insurance broker and licensed agent in property and casualty and life insurance in VA, NC, SC, GA, and WV. His agency, Ferguson Insurance, began in 1997 and has since grown to over $8 million in sales. He has experience in manufacturing, hospitality, construction, small and mid-sized business, and technology, shipping, and medical industries. He is also a Certified Medical Practice Manager. Royall has specialized in liability, property, ocean cargo, inland marine, commercial automobile/trucking, and worker’s compensation.
